Callalily is a 5-piece OPM band from the Philippines, composed of Kean Cipriano, Alden Acosta, Tatsi Jamnague, Aaron Ricafrente and Lemuel Belaro.
Nominated for Favorite New Artist in the 2007 Myx Music Awards, Callalily broke into the music scene with "Stars" which spent two weeks at #1. Their second single "Take My Hand" only made it to #3. They proved they still had more to give with "Magbalik" which spent 7 consecutive weeks at #1.They have another hit, "Pasan" (OST of Lineage II), which spending 6 non-consecutive weeks at #1 while their last single "Sanctuary" debut on the hitchart at #3 spot and quickly arose at #1 on its 3rd week. They also also belong to a group of talented bands of Soupstar Entertainment who fed us with their purely cool songs. Also in the group are Imago, Juana, 6cyclemind,Rocksteddy, Kala, Protein Shake, Manomano, Sandwich, Frio, Mayonnaise etc.[1]
While their sophomore album Fisheye scored its first single "Susundan" at #1 for 3 consecutive week, a commercial jingle "Eto na ang Summer"[2] that was especially composed for Sony Ericson also run into airplays peaking at the Pinoy Myx Countdown. The second "Ako'y Babalik" spend only 1 week on the chart peaking only at #17. "Hintay", the latest single currently hits various Philippine Music Countdowns.
The band's name were actually taken not on a variety of a flowering plant nor a local television show, but from a brand name of a bread[3] on which the group's favorite snack. They also appeared as a front act [4] on some of their brother band's (6cyclemind) music video such as "Sandalan" and "Prinsesa". It was then Kean who decided the "Callalily" to make their band's name, and with accordance to the group they chose it because the name just like the bread was fresh-tasting and "maka-masa" in nature. Callalistas, the band's major fan name, also tagged them as "AKLAT"(Tagalog equivalence for "book") on which acronymed from the first letters of the Band Names - Aaron, Kean, Lemuel, Alden and Tatsi.
This debut album officially marked their succes as an OPM Artist and made a huge applause in the Philippine Music Industry forming their huge fans called "Callalistas". The album itself contains 12 tracks and releases chart-topping singles such as "Stars", "Take My Hand", "Magbalik", "Pasan", "Insane"[citation needed] and "Sanctuary". Singles of this album proved their fresh and juvenile energy to enter the music scene as they mark the top spot of different Philippine Music Charts and Year-enders.[citation needed]
Is an 16-track sophomore album of the band which was released last March 2008 at the SM Mall Of Asia and is currently producing hit singles like "Susundan"[6], Ako'y Babalik" and "Hintay". Through this sophomore album it showed that the band has truly matured with their music, illustrating a louder and more powerful display of Callalily’s sound and showmanship.[7]
